Deep work isn’t about willpower — it’s about chemistry.
Everyone has their rituals. Mine just happen to be a little less orthodox.
Before I dive into a long build, I vape, sip my coffee and swallow a capsule of L-Theanine.
Three ingredients, one outcome: presence without pressure.
Marijuana quiets the background noise. It slows my body just enough for my mind to open — loosening the mental grip that usually strangles creativity.
Caffeine brings the focus online. A clean jolt of dopamine and alertness to pair with the stillness.
L-Theanine stitches them together — smooths the peaks, rounds the edges, keeps the signal calm and sustained.
Together, they form what I call productive detachment — that rare state where you’re both in the work and above it.
Where time folds and the world disappears.
This isn’t escapism. It’s alignment.
A pharmacological doorway to the place I build from.
It’s not for everyone, and it’s not every day. But when it’s time to go deep — to write, design, or rebuild the system — this is my blend.
The body relaxed.
The mind alert.
The signal clear.
That’s what deep work feels like when it’s done consciously.
